Pink Zeppelin started out as the brain child of Ben, the guy who used to own Sals Paradise in Fuengirola, and now owns a blues bar in Lemington Spa called the Clarendon.  He suggested a Led Zepp tribute band and we decided to include Pink Floyd to make the show more interesting. I was never really into tribute bands although I had seen a good few. I always thought that they played songs I had never heard of and didn’t associate with the bands in question. With this in mind, we got together and put a set of Zeppelin songs I knew people were familiar with, to include;

Whole Lotta Love
Dazzed and Confused
Thank you
Heartbreaker
Rock n Roll
I can’t quit you babe
Going to California
Stairway to Heaven
Then we put in the Pink Floyd songs to include,
Shine on you crazy diamond
Money

Another brick in the wall
Time
Comfortably Numb
Wish you were here
Us and Them
Run
Have a Cigar
High Hopes

The show was in two parts, and lasted nearly three hours. We started with Zepp and the second half was Floyd. I felt to reproduce the best songs of the two greatest bands of our time would be a show worth seeing. Well this was an understatement to say the least. Sals Paradise will hold 180 people and that is the fire max. We had in excess of 300 fans inside and out. Ben said it was the record for Sals and it aint been beaten yet, not for attendance or cash takings. I hope we will put together another show soon, I know the fans would love it and the lads too!!! Not to mention Sals Paradise. The new owner, Ed and his son Tom are asking me to put this show together again, ah sure fuck it, why not!

The band was handpicked and consisted of some of the best musicians I have had the pleasure of playing with, Kouki, keyboards and vocals, from, Lito Blues Band, Binajack Band and Mama Paula band. Alberto, bass, from Lito Blues Band. Nacho, vocals and guitar, from Night Train. David, drums, From Mama Paula band, And Mama Paula on lead guitar, vocals and sax, you know where from! This was the first Costa del Sol super-group to emerge, and there aint been anything to touch it in tribute terms yet!!!!!!

I have been a huge fan of both of these bands since the sixties and still love to listen to them now.

The next date for Pink Zeppelin will be advertised on this site, so keep coming back and look for more details, coming soon ! ...............  Click here for Mama Paula's Latest gigs
