The Binajack Band
September 2005 saw the Binajack Band setting off for the first and last tour. This short-lived band was one of the best sounds I had made. It comprised of, Sabina Shehan on acoustic guitar and vocals, Kouki on keyboards, Ben Colbeck on bass Javilon on drums and yours truly on lead guitar and vocals. After a lot of rehearsals and a lot of telephone calls, we set of for Ireland.

We travelled non-stop to Bilbao in the north of Spain, form Fuengirola, in the far south of Spain, roughly 1000 Km. We boarded the ferry to Portsmouth and set sail. On board we were privileged to play a set in the nightclub. That was very well attended and we went down well, not an expression I usually use where boats are concerned! On arrival in the UK we drove to Hereford where we played a couple of gigs. Finally, on to Ireland.
Cork city was our first port of call; I fell in love with this wonderful city in an instant. Great people, great scenery and bloody great Guinness! Abundant with live music venues, we were booked to play Reardens in Washington St and a damm good night it was too.
The place was buzzing and so were we. I made some lovely new friends and still see them now and then here in Ireland. I have since played Cork a few times. This is Rory Gallagher country and blues guitar is big in this part of the world.

The Binajack Band Tour
On to Limerick. We played Dolan’s Warehouse and the Precinct, a nice couple of gigs, then off to Galway. Our last port of call was The Stables in Mullengar, I love this place and Tommy McManus made us very welcome.
Again I have played Mullengar since and hope to do so again soon. Our trip back was a hard one. We were all knackered and ready for home.

There were four of us left to bring the van back to Spain. It all went wrong for the band at this point and who knows why? Life on the road is hard, you live and work together in very close proximity and tempers can flare. I like to think we all remain friends, but who knows, I am cool with it. A big thanx to everyone who helped us on the tour. Far too many to mention.
Will I tour again?---------------------------------- Bloody right I will-!!!!!!!!!!!!
